About

ANNIE. MAY. GAY.

My first name is Annie, my middle name is May, and my last name is Gay.

Yes, that’s really my name. I started this “About Me” section with my name, well, because it is so me — happy, southern, and quirky. I grew up wishing I had a different last name until one day I realized it was truly a blessing in disguise. People always remembered my name and who I was, and I hope after you leave this site, you will too.

Where are you from?

(a question I get often)

I was born in Virginia, but my dad was in the Army so we moved frequently. I’m so thankful my dad always made sure we lived off the base and in the community. Without a doubt, growing up in various places instilled a love of travel and respect of different cultures at a very young age.

But where are you from?

(a follow up question in regards to my looks)

My ethnicity? My mom is Korean and my dad is Caucasian American.

Acting & Writing

I originally moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. I’m commercially represented by JFA.

Out of frustration of not being “white” or “Asian” enough for roles, I started writing my own web series called Mixed Nuts. As a screenwriter of mixed ethnicity, I hope to bring awareness and fill a void for us in the Amerasian community.

Never Have I Ever

My 2015 New Year’s resolution was to do one new thing a week to combat routine. I completed my New Year’s resolution and have continued this tradition into 2018. My Instagram subtly features my new weekly adventures under the hashtag #neverhaveIever. I wanted to further document and share my weekly experiences through this online blog in order to inspire others to venture out of their comfort zones and routines.

A little More…

I put Sriracha on almost everything. I always ask for a side of jalapenos when eating out at a restaurant. I’m a doggie mom to Yogi Bear – a Maltese Yorkie mix. If I ever get another dog, her/his name will for sure be Boo Boo. I live by my favorite Wale lyric, “Lemonade connoisseur life’s lemons coming out.”

I created anniemaygay.com as a one-stop-shop for all things that I’m working on.

Thanks for stopping by!
